Gorgem is rarely seen. They are known only to inhabit a single location on Crown Island, the crystal-filled Dew Cave. Gorgem spends most of its time burrowed deep beneath the surface where the heat from the earth's mantle is immense. The high temperatures soften the hard crystals, allowing Gorgem to digest them. Made of stone and crystal itself, Gorgem incorporates the hardest minerals into its body, in order to tolerate the heat of the depths. The older a Gorgem gets the deeper it digs. Some well-studied Tamers debate what happens to a Gorgem that becomes hard enough to break into the magma deep beneath the earth's crust...

After having incorporated enough super-hard gems into its body and managing to tunnel beyond the earth's crust Gorgem undergoes a powerful transformation. The large gem that comprises Gorgem's head melts and reconstitutes rapidly, forming an amorphous, ultra-hot molten liquid ruby core. If the Gorgem has not consumed hard enough minerals its body will be decimated forever, however, those that survive reach new levels of power as their ruby core stabilizes. Gorgem AC's signature move, Ruby Beam, fires a massive beam of molten ruby at terrible speeds. The beam tears through almost anything, causing even the most magically resistant foes to erupt into flame.
