Jess is a character in Monster Crown. Jess can be found in the north of Desperado Province, in an area that she calls a 'desert oasis'. Upon being talked to, she tells the player a bit of her story.

Story within the events of the game[edit]

Jess apparently hit the jackpot at the slot machines in Nio Kio, and after that, 'decide(ed) that her normal life was over.' She 'decided to create a desert oasis' where she 'could be a real life king.' Apparently, people kept insisting to her that the desert was dangerous, and that (she'd) 'be kicked by a Stega', or 'chomped by a Hyna'. As of the current version of the game Jess trails off after this.

Jess has a large monster, called Hamilton, who can be seen swimming in the waters of the bay behind her, and has a number of male servants around her, who love her dearly.

Ah! Now THIS is the good life! I hope you enjoy your visit to my Oasis, you'll never believe the story of how I put this place together!
Well, picture this, it was my 26th birthday and I was feeling a little disillusioned with my life - where was it going? Where was I going? So my girlfriend asked me to take a trip to Nio Kio with her on a Saturday night and stay at the Gambit. It sounded like an ok break from the day-to-day so I said, sure, let's go! That night I pulled the arm on a slot machine and what do you know, 777! I hit the jackpot, I couldn't believe it! I decided my normal like was over. I decided I'd create a desert oasis where I, Jess, could be a real life King. People kept telling me, the desert is dangerous, you're going to get kicked by a Stega, chomped by a Hyna... you know how people are. And then...
Wow I'm really not boring you yet? Ok well I sought out the Monster Breeders in Humanism Kingdom and asked for a newborn monster I could make bond with me that would grow up big and strong. I knew I could never tame a wild monster but raising one from the egg? That's doable! Anyway apparently this egg they sold me would grow up to be a super strong monster with a mild temperament. So I carried it with me back here, where I wanted to have my Oasis.
Ha, maybe I'm a good storyteller after all, you're sticking around! So the monster grew and grew - I called him Hamilton. Eventually well, as you can see behind me, it got huge! Monsters generally avoided this area entirely with this big brute around. What they don't know though is Hamilton's a big softie. I brought back a fatty fish from Hewston market for him once, and now if I return from a trip without a treat Hamilton whines, like a big baby! Anyway...
I knew life would get pretty boring out here with having to do all the work myself with no one around, so using my huge winnings I hired some cute cabana boys. But that was still sort of lonely, they'd go back home at the end of the day and I never felt like they became a part of my life. So I gave them a place to stay and let them eat all the fresh fruit they wanted, along with a pretty lax work schedule. At first they'd still keep going home at the end of the day but slowly, they decided to stay and live here! I still pay them of course, but what a sweet life!
So... maybe you should call me King Jess! The fourth King, ah, what a concept! Isn't life beautiful?
