Monster Eggs play a big role in the breeding mechanics of Monster Crown, and, like taming, provide one of the ways through which the player can obtain new monsters.
Each species of monster has its own uniquely designed egg, and it is therefore easy to tell what species of monster the offspring will hatch into. The colour of the egg will also correspond to the colour of the monster that hatches out of it.
Contents
Obtaining Eggs
Eggs can currently be obtained in three different ways.
Eggs from Monsters Bred by The Player
Upon breeding two monsters together, the player will obtain an egg. The egg will hatch into the resulting offspring of the two monsters!
Wild Monster Eggs
Monster eggs can also be found out in the wild in any lost tamer pack location. They are indicated by a light green nest containing shaking red-spotted egg at it's centre. These eggs are hybrids of two random species of monster.
Battling Angered Mother Monsters
Sometimes when trying to pick up a wild egg, you can be attacked and forced into battle by the egg's angered mother! She cannot be tamed using a pact, and so you must defeat her in order to obtain her egg. Although this stops you from picking the egg up immediately, the mother's species will be the same as the eggs, so this battle enables you to see what species of monster the egg will hatch into before you even collect it! To the plucky egg-collecting players out there, this battle can therefore be a source of great excitement and anticipation!
Panipillr's Egg
Panipillr's Egg, located in the caves in Flowering Province, is an exceptional example of a wild Monster Egg. It has its own unique overworld sprite and, furthermore, the player must use an unusual method in order to obtain the Panipillr inside!
Gift Eggs
Certain monsters can only be obtained through receiving eggs gifted from NPCs or monsters.
Enmirae's Egg
See also: Enmirae
Currently, as of the beta version of Monster Crown, Enmirae is the only(?) monster that is exclusively obtained through an egg that is gifted to the player.
Dream Egg
The Dream Egg is an egg given to the player by a monster.
Incubation and Hatching
Upon obtaining a monster egg, it will be put into an available incubator slot in the 'Eggs' section of the player's overworld menu, indicated by an icon of a large egg. Upon obtaining an egg, the player will notice an egg icon appear in the top right hand corner of their screen. This icon is initially still. The player will have to wait a little while before this icon starts to shake, indicating that one of their eggs is ready to hatch! You can then open up the 'Eggs' section and witness it hatching into a brand new monster!
