Throughout the development of Monster Crown, new monster designs and descriptions were regularly revealed on social media - namely Reddit, Twitter, and the official game forums - in the format of "Monster of the Week" posts, often abbreviated as "MotW". A handful of very early MotW posts were occasionally referred to as "Creature of the Week" or "Beast of the Week", instead. Despite the name, MotW were not a strictly weekly format, occasionally the schedule was adjusted due to outside factors.

As MotW posts covered a five-year span of development, some of the featured monsters underwent design changes, or were cut from the final game.

2016

The earliest MotW posts were primarily featured on Reddit and Twitter, utilizing game sprites by devotedtoneurosis and/or artwork by Onion_MU. Later, starting with Ambigu, they began to appear on the official forums as well, and devotedtoneurosis began to draw the majority of the artwork himself.

2018

In 2018, the MotW image layout was changed to reflect the game's name change from "Crowns" to "Monster Crown". Some monster transformations began to be featured, as well.

2019

Starting with Golabeest in mid-2019, the MotW images began to forgo the artwork to focus on the game sprites.
